Hi,
Do you know the spawning period for Dainichi? As in from now (June) till when?
I did see some 15cm Dainichi koi in the market in April 2011. I'm just wondering should these be their 2010 June spawning, or they did spawn at a later months.?

Hi Bram.
It is very interesting to see your video, would you like to inform us - how many black fries from showa spawning were produced by DKF this year?
Dear hobbyists,
Appologize for the lack of updates here on the forum, but it has been a busy time lately!
In the mean time we started with the senbetsu (culling/selection of Koi).
Here's a blog of the senbetsu of my Showa fry from the oyagoi Pota.
http://www.koiquestion.com/en/index....koi-selection/
Hope you will enjoy it.
With kindest regards,

ps. i will come back to your questions later!
Hi, Dainichi only breeds in june and july, so this means the fish is a small nisai now.
@Genkoi:
Dainichi have bred 2,7 million black fry in the first breeding round. We have just finished the second, tomorrow we will do kurosen (black and red fry selection of the newborn showa fry), so then we will know the exact numbers of 2011. Probably it will be more then 3.000.000!
Hi all,
I made a new blog about my showa fry at the moment, they have undergone a huge development these last couple of weeks since senbetsu: http://www.koiquestion.com/en/index....-showa-babies/.
Enjoy!
With kindest regards,
Bram Rohaan

Hi Mochi,
That's true, unfortunately. They were the lucky ones who could escape the netting and could go on growing. Normally most of the Shiro Utsuri will be outselected as a tategoi and not put back in the mudpond again.
Helllo all,
I made some new blogs in the mean time!
The first one is about the release of Dainichi's oyagoi (parent koi) to the mudpond: http://www.koiquestion.com/en/index....e-holiday-now/
And the second one is about the Nagaoka Hanabi: http://www.koiquestion.com/en/index....ating-colours/
Enjoy!
