Dear Koi Hobbyist

Great News..., 870 pieces specially sorted Ginrin Shiro Utsuri shipment arrived at Yamakoshi Koi Farm today.

The parent koi were a pair of Ginrin Showa and the famous Panda (see attached pictures).
The fish will have to go through the quarantine period of 21days in line with Fishery Department requirement. During this time, we groom this fish to somewhere around 15cm to 20cm or larger (currently 8cm to 12cm). Some already have good pattern on it and most sumi still under the skin but visible pattern if you look carefully and possibly more fishes will develop better sumi after 3~4 weeks of grooming under our weather and water condition.

If they turn out well and of excellent quality, it will be the our next GROWOUT EVENT. This batch is a very good quality shiro as we went thru some hard bargaining with both father and his son who were so reluctant to sell these beautiful batch to us (actually we bought the whole pond of approx 1100 pcs and were sorted down to 870 pcs, the rest are considered "Lap Sap" or "rubbish" with the help of Omosako elder son and our good friend Raymond & Simon who went to Japan with us this trip...
Again from these 870, we will pick the best 200~300 fish for the event...

Format will be determine later... Of course it will be more exciting than the 1st GO...

Perks? Of course it will be more attractive...

Participating cost as below...

RM700 for 1.
RM1300 for 2.
RM1800 for 3.
RM2200 for 4.
RM2500 for 5.

Hi All,

2 weeks has past pretty quickly. Today we sorted out the larger size fish and divided them into 2X 50tons ponds. Here is some of the fish which is around 12cm~16cm, the smaller one are around 10cm~12cm. Original size were 8cm~12cm.

We will be doing another inspection and sorting in 3 weeks time after we came back from Japan trip.

Will keep everyone updated end of the month...

Hi All,

I just came back from shopping trip in Japan 2 days ago. Today, I review the GR Shiro condition and found the fish have grown tremendously in terms of size and body structure. Most has bulk up and average measurement estimated to be around 18cm to 22cm. A lot of them has not develop sumi and therefore it is not the right timing to start picking the best 200pcs for this event.

Here is my plan....

23rd Nov - we will sort out those sumi developed fishes and segregate them into a separate concrete pond and continue grow & groom,

26th Nov - move the balance fishes with weak sumi to our newly constructed pond (side concrete/bottom mud) and continue to groom the sumi development under greater sunlight exposure and higher water hardness,

10th Dec - continue to observe sumi development and take average fish measurement (expect them to be around 20cm~25cm and determine if they are good enough for quality selections, if not, continue...

24th Dec - continue the process above...

assuming by 24th Dec, we got a good 200pcs of good quality fish, we will prepare them for customer selection process...

31st Dec - we shall provide a complete list of fish for final selection by customer. Selection method, rules & regulations and prizes shall be published no later than end of this month 15th Dec 2010.

15th Jan - we shall organize a public draw in KL (time and location to be determined).

Since this Ginrin are expected to grow slower than the normal Shiro, we shall do a 6 months growout, the 2nd GO Championship shall be held around July 2011.

We want the best for all our customer, please be patient and we shall get the best 200 fish for this event...

Best Regards

Note - just a Heads Up, we have acquired a very high quality Dainichi Tosai from this shopping trip and we may make use of this to launch the 3rd GO with this batch along with some Sakai Sanke/Kohaku & Taniguchi Sanke + Goshiki (let all hobbyist have the experience to keep & grow goshiki from tosai), it will be a threesome or foursome affair this time... we will only select the best of the best for this 3rd event...

Hi All,

here is some of the well sumi developed ginrin shiro for your reference. We are able to get some 50pcs of well developed fish like this for the time being , the rest are still pretty plain... these are average 20cm in size...

we have segregate this batch and put them into a separate pond for further grooming where their bros and sis will be moved to our newly construction mud/concrete pond with lots of sun exposures and harder water condition for expedited sumi development. Hopefully we will get some 150pcs more with pretty ginrin black and white girls...

Here is the newly modified mud pond where we are going to put the non sumi ginrin showa for grooming for the next 2~3 weeks.

This mud pond in with concrete lining and mud at the bottom for a better control environment. Each side of the pond is 150tons and can be sub divided to max 8 ponds by net.

bro fp,

The arragement for the ginrin shiro sounds fantastic to me. You're the best :D
I hope I can afford the 3rd GO, if the price within my budget I will definitely support the Dainichi, Sakai and Taniguchi altogether

FYI, the shiro from the 1st GO growing well in my pond now and looking real good.

cheers bro

Dear Koi Hobbyist

We have seen some sumi development in our Ginrin Shiro and it is still not good enough yet for selection. Will continue to monitor the grooming…

Dear Koi Hobbyist,

We will like to inform you that we have completed the photography session of the 2nd Grow Out Gin Rin Shiro Utsuri. After serious review by the management of Yamakoshi, it was deemed and decided that the quality of the growth and pattern is not in line with Yamakoshi’s standard of quality.

No doubt that we still have enough stock to push the event through, we felt that it would be unfair to some participants as some of the fish has turn up to be below our expectation. As our saying goes “Quality made affordable” we cannot and will not offer any fish below our expectation to our valued koi hobbyist. We have attached the photo of the Gin Rin Shiro for your viewing.

We have tremendous support for this event from Koi Hobbyist in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore and we understand that you are eager to get this event started. However, due to quality issue on hand, we have to formally announce that the 2nd Yamakoshi Grow Out Competition is now cancelled. On behalf of the Management and Staff of Yamakoshi, we will like to apologise for this cancellation and for any inconvenience caused.

All entry fees will be refunded respectively via cheque or by bank transfer. We will also be contacting each and every participant who has paid the entry fee to make arrangement for the refund. You may also decide to keep the refund as Yamakoshi Credit for your future purchase or event.

Please do not be despair over the 2nd Grow out cancellation as we have a bigger event line up for our Koi Hobbyist in lieu of the 2nd Grow out competition.

Sneak Preview / Coming Soon

Yamakoshi will be launching Yamakoshi Cup Challenge Series #1 in middle of April 2011. This is a take home groom and grow event as Yamakoshi will provide a web platform for customer to upload photo and video of the progress of the fish. There will be 100 fishes for series #1 (http://www.koianswers.com/search?Search=%231&Mode=like) for customer to select via our Online Store for this challenge. We will be using Marudo’s koi fish for the Series #1 (http://www.koianswers.com/search?Search=%231&Mode=like) challenge and in total; we will be conducting 3 series from 3 different Koi Farms.

Winners of each series will be competing for the grand champion title at the end of the 3rd series.

Guess what, if any of the Series #1 (http://www.koianswers.com/search?Search=%231&Mode=like), Series #2 (http://www.koianswers.com/search?Search=%232&Mode=like) and Series #3 (http://www.koianswers.com/search?Search=%233&Mode=like) fish enter into Young Shinkokai Show in September 2011 and win in any category, you will also get a surprise from Yamakoshi.

We hope that you will find our upcoming event more challenging than ever as we will not only test your skill in fish grooming but we will also test your skill in taking photography and videography and upload into our website for other koi hobbyist to see. Judging of fish for each series will be via online. Better prepare to brush up your skill and take out the camera and video from your closet.

Stay tune for more in depth information about our upcoming challenge.

In conclusion, we will like to once again apologise for the cancellation of our 2nd Growout Event . The cancellation was done accordance to our quality of standard and our customer’s value for money principle. Any fish that we deem not up to our quality will not be offered to our value customer.

We hope you understand our reason for cancellation and please do not hesitate to contact us if you need more information. You can contact the following person:
